Seed Song Farm & Center is hiring for the following roles:
Children’s Education/Activity Leader Staff and Education Program Director
Seed Song Center (SeedSongFarm.org) is a nonprofit organization that offers educational programs and community events at Seed Song Farm in Kingston, NY, towards a mission to “re-kindle cultural reverence for the land and its bounty by making healthy farm food and experiences available to ALL”. The Center is now hiring additional educators (more accurately: stewards of children’s development, curiosity, enthusiasm, and well-being, especially regarding their relationship with land, farm, food, and nature) and a program director. The Center is extending its annual farm/nature/arts-themed spring, summer and fall programs for youth aged 4 through 14, into a nearly year-round support to parents struggling with their children’s limited options during Covid19 for in-person education, social-emotional growth, physical movement, and intellectual stimulation.
Seed Song Center seeks educators who are capable and interested in observing the natural interests of children and supporting them in extending that curiosity and excitement by building projects and curriculum around their interests. Seed Song’s educational programs are hands-on, project-based, child-centered, multi-age, and holistic, tending to children’s social-emotional and physical needs, recognizing individual learning styles. Programming is rooted in the seasonal rhythms of the Center’s adjoining 50-acre working agroecological farm and in the diverse ecological habitats on the historic 215-acres of land along Esopus Creek and at the foot of the Catskills: Maple sugaring; fishing; caring for farm animals; seeding and harvesting; solar snack-making and experiments; planting trees; observing wild pollinators; making vegetable instruments and animal puppets; etc.
