Sunday, January 1st, 1 PM
We invite you and your neighbors to gather as fellow human beings and walk.
- Starting at the Farm (160 Esopus Avenue) at 1pm. Ending at The Greenhouse at 65 St. James St. Following the walk we can gather to get warm, some hot drinks and continue discussions.
- This is not a protest and there is no agenda, it is just unity. We walk together in solidarity, and start over from Day 1. We put aside what divides us and focus on what unites us – our humanity. This is just one day to simply walk together.
- In the face of so much that divides us, let us not forget that we are united by the bonds of our common fellowship in the human race.

The Land Grows Music: Friday Night Happy Hour featuring
Live Music by Studio Stu and The Rhythm Method
Friday, September 9th, 2022 6 pm – 10 pm
Studio Stu and The Rhythm Method take the farm stage this Friday, September 9th!
This eccentric jazz trio takes the very best in classic jazz and originals, and twists and bends them into what they call ‘jazz unstandards’.
In this 'trio virtuosi’, nothing is sacred...improv is rampant, lyrics are changed at will, notes and chords are bent and reimagined, familiar languages are obliterated, harmonies are sweet and sour perfection, and yet, serious, sophisticated and uncompromising in execution. This is one in-tune, out-of-tune, offbeat outfit."
Studio Stu ~ Single String Bass and Voice

Paul Duffy ~ Piano

Special guests will include the intrepid young crew from Kroka Expeditions, making a stop in Kingston along their paddling journey in large canvas canoes to New York City. Kroka Expeditions is a non-profit wilderness expedition school, based on an organic farm in New Hampshire, which believes that consciousness and altruistic will can be brought forward through a living relationship with the natural world and by taking our places within the circle of community (Visit Kroka.org for more information). The Kroka crew has chosen to spend their day in the Kingston area helping with agroecological farm tasks at Seed Song Farm as they immerse themselves in an exploration of how culture evolves from an area's unique natural resources. Come help welcome them with the best of our Esopus Valley's food, song, and goodwill in exchange for their camaraderie and tales of adventure!
Pete Seeger and his Hudson River Sloop Clearwater project were founding inspirations for Seed Song Farm & Center, which offers all in our community hands-on interactions with their unique natural resources, toward building healthy relationships and improved stewardship. As aboard Clearwater, at the farm music is a magical, fun ingredient that nurtures and builds our community, and is a tool for education and activism. Pete was a friend and supporter of the farm project, and played an all-afternoon concert for the farm back when it was Brook Farm in New Paltz at the foot of the Shawangunks. Farm owner Creek Iversen and other guests will share participatory songs and personal stories weaving together the depth and breadth of Pete's activism and influence in the Hudson Valley and far beyond. Please come share your food, music, stories, and a little work with your hands and hearts at this special event to remember, celebrate, and grow Pete's legacy.

In the early 20th century, extensive research of healthy, isolated communities eating their traditional diet revealed striking differences compared to modern day diets. Compared to today, these healthy traditional peoples consumed 10 times as much fat soluble vitamins (A and D) and 4 times as much water soluble vitamins and minerals. As we have abandoned these traditional foods, and replaced them with modern convenience foods, physical degeneration has followed. Physical issues from crowed teeth, cavities, reproduction difficulties, and degenerative illnesses, along with emotional instability, are the result of nutritional deficiencies not genetics. Learn the characteristics of traditional diets while sampling some traditional foods.

6:30pm potluck supper
7:30pm songs and stories to keep up Pete's environmental and inclusive community work

"Seeds of Pete Seeger at 100" is a special evening of singing, action, and a farm potluck supper, through which we will keep alive and growing a piece of the vital momentum of Pete's work. The evening is free, for all ages, and donations will be gratefully accepted. Please bring a dish to pass and/or make a donation.. The event space is accessible to wheelchairs.
