Jack-O+-Lanterns Art Pumpkin Show & Benefit
Saturday, October 27
Artists, creatives, and the public are invited to participate in Jack-O+-Lanterns, a Halloween celebration of the Kingston area's creativity and commitment to wellness for all, on Saturday, October 27.
Jack-O+-Lanterns is both an art pumpkin show with a portion of the proceeds going to the artists themselves and a community pumpkin carving and decorating contest for prizes donated by local businesses, to benefit two organizations which integrate wellness with the arts: O Positive Festival and Seed Song Center.
Chemical-free pumpkins for the event are available at Seed Song Farm, 160 Esopus Avenue, Kingston every Saturday (10am-5pm) and Sunday (11am-4pm) or on the morning of October 27 at the Kingston Farmers' Market on Wall Street from 9am-2pm, during which time the adjacent Old Dutch Church at 272 Wall Street will host pumpkin carving activities.
Community Pumpkin Carving and Decorating Prize Contest
No registration is necessary to enter a pumpkin in the Prize Contest category.
Pumpkins may be dropped off for judging at the display areas outside the Old Dutch Church between 9am and 2pm on 10/27, or at My Kingston Kids' free Halloween Fest at Seed Song Farm between 2pm and 5pm on 10/28, where all prizewinners will be announced at 6pm prior to the lighting of the giant bonfire sculpture finale. Prizewinners not present will be notified within 48 hours.
Participants should take their pumpkins home at the end of the festival as their safety and condition can't be monitored afterwards. Unclaimed pumpkins will be left on display and eventually fed to the chickens or composted.
