PROGRAM DATES: Monday, March 22nd to Wednesday, June 15th
Mondays and Wednesdays from 12:30-3:30 PM
The Compass program is based on a forest school ideology where Nature provides an infinite amount of stimulation but at the same time it is deeply nourishing & soothing. We aim to foster a connection to Nature, Community & Oneself in a communal village like setting. We will build, explore, breathe & experience as well as share ideas, feelings & skills. Learning will happen on its own within this format. From a technical side of things this program will include survival skills; both in the wild & in our modern world, homesteading, foraging, gardening & herbalism as well as social emotional learning , STEM based activities weaved with ancient wisdom & environmentalism.
The entire program takes place on our 215-acre historic farm property , where we have a designated educational greenhouse space serving as shelter from rain or snow, farm animals, playground, educational gardens and a great big open lawn, all surrounded by woods, wetlands, farm fields, and diverse habitats. There is also a farmhouse & a farm store on premises.
Few things you may be wondering about ;
The Compass program runs SPRING & FALL, RAIN OR SHINE except for extreme weather conditions.
The staff to child ratio is 1:6 .
This is a drop off program but if you are a parent with a skill/knowledge you would like to share please inquire about a volunteer option.
It is not mandatory to sign up for the whole session & we do offer a drop in option but please take note that consistency reassures children. Knowing they can rely on the routine of seeing the same people weekly lets them feel safer, relaxed & more open to sharing their feelings.
*Please note: There will be no Compass Program during the week of Spring Break-April 11th-April 15th.
Questions? please email - Ewelina at camp@seedsongfarm.org
