Seed Song Center's Farm Feed Your Neighbor Program gives the opportunity to low-income and immigrant individuals and families to join our CSA Share program for free or at a subsidized cost. It also supports our food pantry donation program in partnership with many community partners.
This fund is supported by members of our farm community: in 2020, we raised over $18,000 from our farm community to support this program. In 2020, 38 households (a total of 147 individuals) became CSA share members through the generosity of our community. In 2020, 30 out of 38 of these households had one or more family members lose a job or experienced a reduction in income due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We also donated 6,000 pounds or 3 tons of produce to HVFeed and the Farm-to-Food Pantry Program in Ulster County with program partners Rondout Valley Growers, Ulster Corps, Ulster County Community Action, and Family of Woodstock. We also operated a pay-as-you-can farmstand on Sundays outside of the Library at the A.J. Williams-Myers African Roots Center in the Ponckhockie neighborhood of the City of Kingston in which all proceeds benefitted the Library.
