AfterSchool Program at Seed Song Center
A Farm and Nature After School Program is now available for students 5 years of age and older at Seed Song Farm & Center!
It runs from 3pm until 6pm weekdays, beginning September 13. Parents and children unfamiliar with the farm & center staff are invited to free informal Open Houses every Wednesday in September from 4:30-6:30pm.
All programs are by donation throughout the month of September (suggested donation $5/hour), and FREE to those who could otherwise not attend, in keeping with the mission of Seed Song Farm & Center to “re-kindle a cultural reverence for the land and its bounty by making healthy food and farm experiences available to all.” Spanish speaking staff will be present on select days, and children of immigrant families are encouraged to attend. There are escorted half-mile walks from Chambers Elementary School to the programs, and carpools have formed from other local schools.
The Fall activity themes are food and farm, including caring for plants and animals; nature and environment club; native american skills and cultural history; pumpkins, fall crops, and Halloween; the elements; music and the arts and crafts; and fun and games. The programs are conducted in collaboration and exchange with Seed Song Center's many community partners such as Kingston's African Roots Center, Association of Native Americans and Neetopk Keetopk, My Kington Kids, and others.
